FROM A DOWNGRADE TO AN UPGRADE: 7 STEPS TO AN OUTSTANDING LIFE

How can you and I experience a supernatural upgrade? How can we move from where we are presently to where God wants us to be? Let’s look at the key words “Downgrade” and “Upgrade”. Downgrade; demote, reduce, lower, relegate, make someone feel worthless, useless, to write someone off, to make someone feel inferior, like the word “downgrade”, it suggests bringing someone down, not up e.g. moving from A to B. Upgrade; promotion, advancement, improvement, rising to a higher position, e.g. moving from B to A Let’s consider two Bible Characters: Mordecai (Mordecai’s story can be found in the Book of Esther) & Jabez (in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10). When someone gives a testimony of an upgrade, people are just too excited, so they don’t even pay attention to the STEPS the testifier took to move from a downgrade to an upgrade. There are steps; UPGRADE DOES NOT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT. UPGRADE DOES NOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE. UPGRADE DOES NOT HAPPEN BY LUCK. It is like someone climbing a ladder of greatness; you start from the base and keep climbing step-after-step until you get to the topmost place. FIGHT LOW SELF-ESTEEM What is Self-Esteem? Self Esteem is a feeling of self-worth; confidence in one’s worth or abilities. Eleanor Roosevelt said “No one can make you inferior without your permission”, that is no one can make you feel worthless unless you agree with the unpleasant remark or comment they make about you. People’s opinion should not determine how you feel about yourself. People are entitled to their opinion. Don’t let people’s opinion define your reality. You are a Person of Worth; you were bought with the precious Blood of Jesus. You are chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people 1 Peter 2:9. Build your self-esteem on the Word of God, not on the opinions of men. They may relegate, insult you, and say all kinds of negative things about you but you should HOLD ON TO WHAT GOD HAS SAID ABOUT YOU IN HIS WORD. They call you a “Failure”, you call yourself a “Success” because God calls you a “Success”, Isaiah 53: 1 says “Whose report are you going to believe?” Mordecai and Esther like the rest of the Jews then were captives; prisoners of war; slaves; we cannot even refer to them as second-class citizens yet Mordecai refused to feel like develop a low self-esteem. As a Jew, he refused to bow to Haman; he refused to compromise his convictions and that was why he got into trouble with Haman who happened to be the most powerful person after the king. FOLLOW THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS Proverbs 14:34; Righteousness exalts (upgrades) a nation, a family, an individual. Hebrew 1:9; Righteousness gives you an edge (upgrade). Proverbs 16:25; Exodus 23:2; you don’t have to cut corners or engage in shady business even if the wicked around you are prospering; Psalms 73:2-3. The path of righteousness may not be popular; they say “If you can’t beat them, join them”. Declare to yourself: I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST. FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT AND PURSUE YOUR DREAMS OF GREATNESS As a driver on the vehicle of destiny, to fasten your seat belt suggests getting ready, getting prepared to move forward and become unstoppable! Don’t be discouraged because of your present situation. Keep working on your dreams of greatness. Mordecai kept going to his workplace as a palace gatekeeper even though he had done a good deed, he wasn’t rewarded and he was being oppressed by Haman. Don’t give up on your dreams if you are going to experience an upgrade. Upgrade requires hardwork, consistent hardwork. FAITH IN GOD’S FAITHFULNESS Hebrew 11:6; God is the only that ultimately rewards our faithfulness in the secret or open even when people don’t notice it or reward it. What is most surprising is that Mordecai refused to lobby for his reward even when his niece was the Queen, he placed his faith in God to reward him in a foreign land as at when due. If we have an Uncle in a very powerful position, we would run to him to help us. You may have done many good deeds and it seems no one is notices, appreciates or rewards you. I want to encourage you to continue in your good deeds in line with Galatians 6:9. Your reward is definitely coming. You are going to experience a supernatural upgrade; Mordecai was promoted from a palace gateman to the second-in-command to the king. Our deeds are seeds and there will be a harvest. God, the King of Kings, has a Book of Records or Book of Remembrance where our deeds are recorded. FERVENTLY PRAY The Prayer of Jabez is one of the most popular prayers in the Bible. In fact, a book has been written on it. The prayer of Jabez produced a tangible testimony. James 5:16; The effective prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available. PUSH: Pray Until Something Happens (Until you experience an UPGRADE). FACE THE PRIORITIES OF YOUR OWN DESTINY, STOP FOOLISH COMPARISONS; Psalms 73. We all have different destinies and different roads we will take before we fulfil our destiny. Stop comparing yourself with others, focus on developing your own destiny, and acquire skills, knowledge. You will be tempted to want to do the wrong things others are doing to succeed. FOCUS ON GOD, NOT MEN; Psalms 20:7, Psalms 121; Numbers 23:19. Rely on the help of God, not the help of men. God will definitely use men to help you, to recommend you for an upgrade. Mordecai trusted in God, he didn’t lobby to get his upgrade. In Psalms 75, we read that UPGRADE (promotion) comes from God.
