There are times we all need someone to PUSH us to dare what we consider “impossible”. It is so refreshing when we finally take the plunge and discover that we have always had powerful wings with which we can SOAR above every impossibility. Without this PUSH, there are certain milestones we might never reach. Unless this jungle of fear is cleared from our minds, we might never attempt the very things of our destiny.
I heard the story of a king that wanted to give out his daughter to the bravest young man in his domain and organized a swimming contest. When the day of the event, people gathered in their numbers to watch which of the suitors would win the competition. At first, it appeared as if it was just a swimming competition. But when the contestants moved closer to the pool, they sighted crocodiles moving freely in it. It was at that point that many of them started having a rethink yet it would amount to a personal admission of cowardice in public glare. Soon they reached the very edge of the swimming pool, and king declared that he would give out his daughter to any of the young men who successfully swims over to the other end of the pool! Just as the young men shivered with fear and toyed with the idea of withdrawal, one of the young men was mistakenly pushed and he found himself in the pool. Seeing the crocodiles, he found himself swimming as skilfully as he could, at least to escape ending up in the stomachs of the carnivorous lizards. To the amazement of the cheering crowd, the young man manoeuvred and reached the other end of the pool, and was received by the king. Panting with almost every fibre of his being, he blurted out these words: Who pushed me?
The young man fulfilled the king’s requirement but also revealed that the feat he performed was inspired by an accident. I tell you, we all need someone to push us to unleash the tremendous potential in us. We never can tell the feats we are capable of until there is a pressure, until there is a demand placed on us. It is quite easy when we stay in our comfort zone, where nothing stretches or challenges us to grow. When the young man found himself in that dangerous pool, he knew there was no time to blame the person who pushed him. If he was going to escape the crocodiles, he would have to take responsibility for his life. And he made it! There are things that people who labelled IMPOSSIBLE that can achieved if only someone would dare. Once, you allow the thought of impossibility to settle down in our minds, our brain shuts down and goes to sleep! Even circumstances on the outside begin to cooperate with your fears and your inward belief that the project is impossible starts seeming true. But if you believe it can be done in the face of seeming impossibility, your brain begins to receive waves of possibilities and solutions will emerge with time and industry.
Life will never offer you greatness on a platter of gold. First, you need to have the right mindset; do away with the perspective that something is impossible. Second, brace up to the challenge. Thirdly, be prepared to pay the price of diligence and persistence. Importantly, seek inspiration from the One who specializes in resolving impossibilities, that is the Almighty God. So, go ahead, confront your “impossibility” and make mincemeat of it! The world awaits you!
